Your Job Market Minute: The Number One Success Factor in Your Search

Jun 25, 2012 3:19:41 AM

There are a lot of reasons people fail in the search for a six figure job, and there are fewer reasons why they succeed.

But today, I'd like to share with you the number one reason for success. This is what separates the clients of mine that start new jobs in six weeks versus those that start them in fourteen weeks. And that is commitment.

Finding your next career position has to be THE number one priority in your life. If there are other things in your life that take priority, your job search will suffer, and it may take you the national average of ten months.

But with a real focus and true commitment, you could start your next job in two months or less.

And notice, this is not an external factor for success, like the unemployment rate or the type of job you're seeking. Plain and simple, commitment equals results. So if you're in a current career search, ask yourself, are you willing to make actual behavioral changes on a daily basis in order to start your next career? If the answer is yes, you've got what it takes to find something quickly.

Listen for these Monday Job Market Minutes each Monday morning on KCMO 710AM and 103.7FM at 7:49am and Monday afternoons during the Sean Hannity show.

I wish you the very best in your search this week!
