A personal note from Tammy Kabell
Executive Job Seeker, I wanted to take a moment to thank you for trusting us with your personal brand, as I know how important that is to you and how much pride you take in your career and the businesses and people you have impacted. As a boutique executive career firm, we take on very few clients each year (usually less than 150), you can be guaranteed that both my team and I are thrilled to be working with you!
Since you are reading this, you have just received the final draft of the one-page functional resume, along with the resume application you filled out. This includes the notes your coach took during your very valuable discussions with him/her.
Here is important information to move your Executive Branding program forward, including TWO ACTION ITEMS BELOW for you to complete prior to your resume presentation meeting:
The resume application document you just received is dozens of pages in length and contains all of the best stories from your career accomplishments. It's a great resource to study prior to interviews.
Our next step is to have a Zoom resume presentation meeting, when we will go over your new resume with a fine-tooth comb, line by line, to make sure that it's exactly the way that you'd like it (only better). I look forward to going over it with you in great detail!
Lacey will reach out to you to set up a convenient time for you, me and your coach to review this new resume. My goal for you by the end of this resume presentation meeting will be to have a resume that is accurate and compelling. More importantly, though, is that it represents the best of who you are, what you can do, and most importantly, who you can BE.
Two homework assignments for you prior to our resume presentation:
The first one is to watch a 55-minute video on our resume methodology because it explains the marketing science behind a lot of what you see within your resume. Watching this in-depth video prior to our presentation meeting will allow us to use our time together most effectively so that you can come to our meeting with fully-informed questions.
You can watch that video here.
Please watch this video prior to our resume presentation meeting if possible. This video may answer many of the questions that might come up for you when you read your new resume.
Secondly, I would recommend you read through the resume thoroughly at least four times and highlight anything you have questions about or would like to adjust. It's your document, so we want it exactly the way you would like it. Feel free to call out any words, phrases, or numbers that you have questions about or would like us to change.
I use best practices in marketing syntax (a fancy way of saying "salesy language") because it has been proven to increase the response rate from any reader, however, it's important that you feel entirely comfortable with the way that it's written.
I try to stretch the limits of your comfort zone because I know you're probably a bit squeamish about promoting yourself (and that's why you hired us), and at the same time, if there are phrases or words that you feel are too hyperbolic to accurately describe your abilities or achievements, then we can work together during the resume presentation to come up with alternatives with which you are more comfortable.
Here's one more piece of content for you: It's a page on the CRC website that I created not too long ago that can help you round out your LinkedIn profile after we complete the revamp of it. These are details that we can't really do for you, as they are personal to your search goals. That page also has additional resources for you in this next phase of your brand creation.
The order of your remaining actions is the following:
Approve the chronological of your resume (which your coach will craft for you after the one-page functional version is approved)
Approve your new LinkedIn profile (which we will create after the chronological version of your resume is approved)
PLEASE NOTE: each of the steps in the remainder of your branding project cannot move forward without your express approval of each deliverable. Therefore, once you have received each of the above pieces of content, it is important to let your coach know that you have approved the deliverable, or meet with your coach to make adjustments to it so that it exceeds your expectations. This will keep your branding project moving forward quickly and maintain momentum once your one-page functional resume has been received.
, we take on very few personal clients each year, so you can be assured that working with you has been a great pleasure and we are dedicated to the success of your career search. Whether you will be launching an active search once your new brand is complete, or if you will be passively looking and just accepting invitations from recruiters to talk, you will now have content in each of your branding materials that represents what you are truly capable of achieving for your next employer.
From now on, anyone you will talk with will come to the conversation knowing you are a true ROCK STAR and an expert in what you do.
This is foundational to landing a role where you are appreciated for ALL of your talents, given responsibilities that will stretch you and fulfill you as a professional, and of course, will pay you what you're worth!
Career Resume Consulting is one of the world's most successful boutique executive career firms. We work on behalf of the individual executive job seeker, not in the company's best interest, so you are guaranteed a great fit with your next employer, be respected as the expert in what you do and be paid what you are worth.
