The Executive Job Search Techniques that Work Around the World

Jun 1, 2014 8:09:28 PM

This morning I'd like to talk with you about the universality CRC's approach to job seeking. Meaning, as I acquire more and more international clients, I find that our techniques work all over the world - basically, because all human behavior is the same, no matter what culture.

In a nutshell, we teach our clients to market themselves into the current job market three ways:

  1. Proactively contact companies that meet your search criteria (size, industry and geographic location) via regular mail, using a hard copy of a one page resume, along with a job searching business card and a brief handwritten message.
  2. Proactively contact companies you find in the news and the business journals in your area that have good news written about them, or have released a recent press release. This is also by hard copy mail and it goes for companies that may or may not have any jobs posted online.
  3. Use strategic networking to work your current network most effectively and expand your network using informational interviewing, phone calls, coffees and networking groups of all sorts.

In working with clients not only across the U.S., but also in Australia, Europe, the Middle East, Russia and Canada, we've found that these tactics work much better than applying to jobs online, random sporadic networking and reaching out to a few recruiters. I believe this is because world-wide, people respond to the personalization of a handwritten note and a series of marketing and sales techniques that have been proven to work for over a century.

No matter where you live, if you'd like to get more in-depth info about our techniques, join me tonight for a webinar I'll be hosting specifically about how to put together a one page resume using persuasive language and how to put it into play using the techniques listed above.
